Our FCC and CRAC practice exams now have text-to-speech. Every question has a 🔊 button next to it — click to hear the question and options read aloud. There’s also a 🎧 mode for continuous play through a whole set. Keyboard shortcuts: L reads the current question, P toggles continuous play. It works in both English and Chinese, and it only reads the question and options — never the answer or explanation.
I built this for two kinds of people.
First, visually impaired hams. Studying for a license exam shouldn’t require staring at a screen for hours. If you can’t see well, you should still be able to prepare.
Second, people who study on the go. Listen while driving, cooking, or doing chores. (If you’re driving, please stay safe — listen only, don’t tap through questions until you’re parked.)
Why does this matter to me personally? I injured my eyes as a kid — a play accident that damaged my vision. Over the years, it’s gotten worse: double vision, blurring, and I can’t look at screens or phones for long stretches anymore. I know what it’s like to want to learn something and have your eyes say no.
We can’t fight aging. But we can prepare for it while we’re young. I hope everyone working toward their license can use sound to explore this world, not just their eyes.
The feature is live now on both exam pages:

If you use a screen reader or know someone who does, I’d appreciate you passing this along.
