What Is This Map? / 这张地图是什么

The Ham Radio Atlas is a free interactive map for amateur radio operators. It combines eight datasets in one view: repeater stations with theoretical coverage, POTA parks, SOTA summits, ham radio organization headquarters, propagation beacons, time signal stations, QSL bureaus, and radio history landmarks.

火腿地图集是一张免费的业余无线电交互地图，把八类数据放在同一张图上：中继台（含理论覆盖范围）、POTA 公园、SOTA 山峰、全球业余无线电协会总部、传播信标台、授时台、QSL 转运局，以及无线电历史地标。

Quick Start / 快速上手

1. Open the map — it loads centered on the USA with the Repeater layer on.
   打开地图——默认以美国为中心，显示中继图层。
2. Switch layers — click the layer buttons at the top (📻 🌲 ⛰ 🏢 📡 🕐 📮 🏛) to turn each dataset on or off. Layers can be combined.
   切换图层——点顶部图层按钮（📻 🌲 ⛰ 🏢 📡 🕐 📮 🏛）开关各类数据，图层可以叠加显示。
3. Zoom and click — zoom in to load detail, click any marker for details.

The Eight Layers / 八个图层

📻 Repeaters / 中继台

Shows amateur radio repeater stations. Each marker opens a popup with callsign, band, downlink/uplink frequencies, tone settings, location, and operational status. The blue circles show theoretical 25-mile (40 km) coverage — an illustration of line-of-sight range for a 25W mobile station, not a guarantee. Real range depends on terrain, antenna height, and conditions.

Shows Parks on the Air reference locations worldwide (91,957 parks). Click a park for its name, reference code, location, Maidenhead grid, and a link to its POTA.app page. Useful for planning portable operations.

⛰ SOTA Summits / SOTA 山峰

Shows Summits on the Air summits worldwide (182,280 summits). Click a summit for its name, reference, elevation, activator points, association/region, and a link to its SOTAdata page.

🏢 Organizations / 协会组织

Shows the headquarters of 59 amateur radio organizations worldwide — including IARU, ARRL, RSGB, DARC, JARL, WIA, RAC and more. Click a marker for the organization’s full name, country, HQ city, and official website link.

📡 Beacons / 信标台

Shows 18 stations of the NCDXF/IARU International Beacon Project — the worldwide propagation-beacon network transmitting in sequence on 14.100, 18.110, 21.150, 24.930 and 28.200 MHz. Click a marker for its callsign, name and location. A quick way to check which bands are open before you call CQ.

Shows 12 standard time-and-frequency stations worldwide: WWV / WWVH / WWVB (USA), BPM (China), JJY 40 & 60 kHz (Japan), DCF77 (Germany), MSF (UK), RWM (Russia), HLA (Korea), CHU (Canada) and YVTO (Venezuela). Click a marker for its frequencies and an info link. Handy for calibrating receivers and judging HF propagation.

Shows 32 major IARU QSL bureaus — the national clearinghouses that forward QSL cards between hams around the world. Click a marker for the bureau’s country, location and official website. Useful when you want to route cards through the bureau system instead of direct mail. (Some markers are city-level.)

Shows 20 landmarks from radio history — from Marconi’s Villa Griffone (1895) and Poldhu (1901) to early transpacific stations and other pioneering sites. Click a marker for the story behind the place and a read-more link. A reminder of how far this hobby has come.

The Four Tools / 四个工具

📍 Near Me / 离我最近

Click 📍 Near me and your browser will ask for location permission. Once granted, the map flies to your position and drops a red pin. Great for finding nearby repeaters, parks, and summits when you’re on the road.

点📍 Near me，浏览器会请求定位权限。授权后地图飞到你的位置并放一个红色图钉。外出时找附近中继、公园、山峰特别方便。

🔍 Place Search / 地名搜索

Type any city or place name (e.g. “Tokyo”, “Sydney”, “Berlin”) into the search box and press Enter or click 🔍. The map flies to the first matching result. Powered by OpenStreetMap Nominatim.

在搜索框输入城市或地名（如 “Tokyo”、”Sydney”、”Berlin”），回车或点 🔍，地图飞到第一个匹配结果。搜索由 OpenStreetMap Nominatim 提供。

📏 Measure / 测距

Click 📏 Measure to enter measure mode, then click points on the map. The total distance displays in both kilometers and miles. Click 📏 Measure again to clear and exit. Handy for estimating how far a repeater or summit is from you.

⛶ Fullscreen / 全屏

Click ⛶ Fullscreen to expand the map to fill your screen. Press Esc or click the button again to exit. Ideal for trip planning on a big display.

Filters & Regions / 筛选与地区

• Band / 波段： filter repeaters by 2m, 1.25m, or 70cm. / 按 2m、1.25m、70cm 筛选中继。
• Tone / 亚音： filter by tone mode (Tone, TSQL, DTCS, Cross). / 按亚音模式筛选。
• Operational only / 仅运行中： hide repeaters reported as non-operational. / 隐藏 reported 停用的中继。
• Coverage circles / 覆盖圆圈： toggle the blue theoretical coverage circles. / 开关蓝色理论覆盖圆圈。
• Region buttons / 地区按钮： 🇺🇸 USA, 🇦🇺 Australia, 🇨🇳 China, 🇦🇹 Austria, 🇳🇿 New Zealand — one click flies to that region. / 一键飞到对应地区。

Base Maps / 底图切换

Use the layer control (top-right corner) to switch between three base maps:

• OpenStreetMap — the default street map. / 默认街道图。

Tips & FAQ / 使用技巧与常见问题

Q: Why do markers cluster together when zoomed out?
问：缩小后标记为什么聚成一团？
A: To keep the map fast, nearby markers are grouped into clusters. Zoom in and they separate. Click a cluster to zoom into it.
答：为了保证速度，相近标记会自动聚合。放大后会散开，点击聚合数字可放大进入。

Q: The repeater list seems incomplete for my area.
问：我所在区域的中继好像不全。
A: The map loads data for the visible area only — zoom in for more detail. Coverage is currently limited to the regions listed above and is expanding.
答：地图只加载可视区域的数据——放大看更多细节。目前覆盖区域见上文，正在持续扩展。

Q: Can I trust the coverage circles?
问：覆盖圆圈可信吗？
A: They show theoretical line-of-sight range only. Hills, buildings, antenna height, and power all change real coverage. Always verify on the air.

Q: Does the map work on mobile?

A: Yes — the layout adapts to small screens, and 📍 Near me works great with your phone’s GPS.
