FT-65R Troubleshooting
Fix "receive OK, can't transmit" and "how to reset" in one place.
Receive OK, can't transmit
Usually the transmit tone (CTCSS/Tone) is missing or the SHIFT direction is reversed. Re-check TX tone and Shift (+/−) against the repeater listing.
Factory reset
Steps: power off → hold MONI/T.CALL + PTT and power on → release when LCD lights → use ▲/▼ to choose F4: ALL RESET → press F to confirm (F1 SET / F2 MEM / F3 BANK / F4 ALL are the reset types).
Battery & endurance
The SBR-25LI lasts about 300 cycles. For long storage remove it to avoid deep discharge. A higher-capacity battery is available for longer runtime.
Water & protection
!
IP54 is splash-proof only, not waterproof. Fine in rain but don’t submerge/rinse; water damage isn’t covered.
Can't enter frequency
Make sure you’re in Frequency (VFO) mode, not channel mode; switch with VFO/MR before typing.
Does reset delete channels?
ALL RESET wipes all settings and channels; for partial clears pick F1/F2/F3 reset types.
What is the FT-65R strong at vs others?
Solid build (MIL-STD-810), 1W loud audio, IP54, simple menu — great for beginners and rough use.
No response after programming?
Check SCU-35 cable orientation/driver, correct CHIRP model, and read-before-write.
