UV-K5 CHIRP Programming
Full flow with the custom-firmware driver — avoid tools that corrupt settings.
Prepare
Install CHIRP. Connect with the factory K-plug / USB-C programming cable. Note: with a custom firmware (e.g. egzumer) you must load a dedicated driver module to see all fields.
egzumer driver
Steps: download
uvk5_EGZUMER.py → CHIRP Help › Enable Developer Mode → restart → File › Load Module pick the file → on download choose Quansheng UV-K5 (egzumer) → View › Show extra fields.Read & edit
Menu Radio › Download from Radio → Vendor Quansheng / Model UV-K5(8) (or egzumer) → pick port → read. Edit the Memories table (freq/tone/power/name), File › Save a .img backup, or Export CSV for bulk editing.
Write back
Radio › Upload to Radio to write. Under custom firmware, do not use the factory CPS — it overwrites and corrupts custom settings. Re-read afterwards to verify.
Do I need the egzumer driver?
Stock firmware: choose Quansheng UV-K5(8). Only load the module if you run egzumer and want the extra fields.
Can I use the factory CPS?
It reads basic params but overwrites/corrupts egzumer custom settings — CHIRP is preferred.
Back up before flashing?
Always save a .img and a CSV with CHIRP so you can restore or migrate channels.
